St Barnabas

St Barnabas Cathedral Nottingham

The Cathedral of St Barnabas, has been a place of praise and worship for over 170 years. This beautiful church was designed and built under renowned architect A.W.N. Pugin and the foundation stone was laid by Bishop Nicholas Wiseman in 1842, who had brought with him the relics of Saint Barnabas from Rome. The Cathedral's importance in the restoration of the Church in England is not inconsiderable, as at the time of its opening the Cathedral was the largest Catholic church to have been built in England since the Reformation.

This site is one of the few remain HTML coded websites that we still manage. The move towards CMS driven websites has been swift but it is still good to be able to code a website for yourself and skills that it brings support sites authored in environments such as WordPress. Even in the world of CMS being able to code allows tweaks otherwise not possible.

Panther Study

Panther Study

The Panther Study programme of research is hosted at University of Nottingham, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and supported by the Nottingham BRC aims to deepen our understanding of susceptibility to, immunity from and transmission of Sars-Cov2 (the virus that causes Covid-19) in an at risk population.

This site was put together in just two days when the pandemic struck. The study team needed an online presence immediately which could be updated as required. The website provides a platform for news, information and in some cases password protected information for download. Unlike many other sites this project was funded with expansion in mind. The site has been developed since first publication and new pages are added as appropriate.

Poor Clares

The Poor Clare Monastery

The Poor Clares are the only Enclosed Contemplative Community of Sisters in the Nottingham Diocese.

"We are truly blessed to have this 'Power House' of Prayer within our Diocese and we pray that the Lord will continue to bless us with their presence and prayer in the years ahead."  (Bishop Patrick)

The design of this website was very much open ended . As far as possible the site has been kept uncluttered and with the message of St Clare. All the headers are frescos of the saint  although inevitably they have had to be trimmed to work as page headers.

The sisters have their thoughts on higher things than websites but as always they were fully supportive and very grateful that Grasshopper Hosting were able to help them help us all.

Ali’s Cats

Alis Cats

Ali's Cats Country Retreat is situated at the top of Bunny Hill in South Nottinghamshire. The name says all and so in this project I have tried to capture what a very special place this is.

Alis Cats is a small business looking to raise their profile locally. Booking is not online by preference but to proprietor wanted to use the website to collect client and pet data necessary for the business model. Due to the remote location directions were important as was the ability to post information should the need arise.
